Organizing  Tips For Cleaning

• Schedule a time to organize
• Don't have unrealistic expectations- you won't get a lot done if you assume you can do a little here and a little there. Put a block of time on your schedule to get a specific task done. Do this for a week or a month until its all done!
• Put items where you use them.
• Eliminate, Categorize, Organize-In this order it is easier to attack a daunting task.  Separate things in these categories 

1. A pile to toss right away or maybe one for tossing one for giving (you will know what these items are!)

2. Separate further (as you go) the categories of things to keep like items together (i.e. Winter and Summer clothing/shoes or File, Read, Toss  etc...)

3. Organize and activate your plan within each category

For example with clothes and shoes you may want to put all the winter shoes away in a less used spot giving room for the summer shoes and maybe from there put all the dress shoes in one space where you use or don't often and the casuals in another area based upon your use need. The same for the clothes. Keep what you use the most the most handy and what you use the least in a less prominent spot. This helps you stay organized as you go because you aren't fishing through your lesser used items to get the everyday things which keeps your organizing efforts lasting longer.

• Check your Results- If your system is failing maybe it wasn't the right one. Try Re-thinking it as you go if necessary.
• Keep up with it. If you schedule a regular "check up" time for this project you should always be ahead of the game!
